In layman's term, welding consumables are those items that are consumed during welding. But in more technical terms, Welding consumables are actually materials that are used as fillers during the welding process to ensure that the two metallic parts being welded are joined in an unbreakable bond. The choice of filler material to be used for welding is primarily dependent on the type of metals that are being welded for joining.
That's why; the welding consumables range manufactured at Arcon is divided into 3 main categories. The first one includes welding consumables in the form of Aluminum TIG/MIG rods and wires that are typically meant to cater to welding jobs carried out on items that are made of aluminum. The second category of welding consumables include stainless steel TIG/MIG rods and wires, which are meant specifically for welding jobs that are carried out on items made of stainless steel. Similarly, the third category of welding consumables include mild steel TIG/MIG rods and wires, which are meant for welding jobs carried out on items made of mild-steel. All these welding consumables are available in straight rods of 1 meter length (for TIG Welding) and spools approximately 6.5 kilograms in weight (for MIG Welding). The entire range is also embossed with grades to avoid any mistakes during use.
Welding consumables especially Flux Coated Welding Electrode or Stick Rods play a very important role in arc welding. They not only fill the seam, but also help in stabilizing the flame of the electric arc. Some commonly used welding processes include SMAW or Flux coated electrode welding or Stick Welding, GTAW or TIG welding and GMAW or MIG welding.
